A COL-ID number (County of Loudoun ID) is used to identify the report associated with each survey polygon. Each survey polygon also identifies the study type (whether Phase I, Phase IA/Reconnaissance, Phase II, Phase III, or Cemetery Boundary Delineation) and contains the report title, report author(s), report author(s)’s affiliation, report date (month, year), associated Loudoun County land development application number and name, associated Virginia Department of Historic Resources project review file number, and information regarding the agency, individual, and date of data digitization. The archeological/reconnaissance level surveys that were already located in Loudoun County's online Laserfiche storage system & new ones submitted to one of the County archeologists over the couple of years Prior to January 2021,a large number of study area boundaries from archeological/reconnaissance level surveys were ditized by Planning & Zoning Community Planning staff into a GIS layer and the digitial reports uploaded to the County's Laserfiche storage system A majority of the layer's attribute schema were taken from the VDHR's archaeological report layer so that this data could be shared with that organization at a later date. In the spring of 2021, an interin in the Planning & Zoning department continued to digitize new study area boundaries from archeological/reconnaissance level surveys that had been received by Planning & Zoning staff over the last few years and the digital report uploaded to the County's Laserfiche storage system. All of the digital reports in Laserfiche were also reorganized into new drectories correspoing Phase (level), which includes I, IA, II, and III. The existing Excel document containing all of the survey report inforamion, including the Laserfiche URL location, was updated to change existing records and add the new reports not previously identified. In November\December of 2021, the GIS layer was updated to reflect the new Laserfiche location URL and fix any other inconsistencies before loading the data into a new Loudoun County GIS database layer with new attribute schema. The data will be added to a new ArcGIS online interactive application that will be used by Lououn County staff only for land development application referrals and other similar uses. The layer will continue to be udpated with archelogical reports that Lououn County receieves and also reports from the VDHR sytem.
