This layer is used to provide the location of Loudoun County's address points in relation to a large number of geographical areas for highly accurate spatial analyses by GIS users. The actual spatial, or X & Y location, of the address point is spatially interesected with a large number of geographical data layers to provide that high degree of accuracy. One application of this layer is currently with the montlhly residential building permits report prepared by the Loudoun County demographer to accurately identify the geographic location of all issued points. The corresponding permit layer is also used in Loudoun County's GeoHUB and an operations dashboard to spatially show their location and allow for visual analysis.

Loudoun County distributes spatial data in ArcGIS database or shapefile & DXF format for the cost of reproduction. Countywide spatial datasets may be purchased for $22 per DVD for up to 4.5 GB of data. There is a $100 surcharge to purchase countywide topography, and a $3 charge if the item is to be mailed. If the customer wants the data in DXF format and/or would like OMAGI to custom select specific geographic areas of the County, there is an additional $7 per 15 minute increment labor charge. Select aerial imagery is also available.

This layer was ultimately created to serve as the beginning of Planning and Zoning's & Mapping and Geographic Information's process of spatially mapping the monthly residential building permits that are issued and reported in the Planning and Zoning's Residential Permit Monthly Report and feed the GeoHUB Operations Dashboard.
Loudoun County's address point layer was intersected against a large number of individiual geographical based layers, such as election districts, policy areas, etc. to provide a large amount of geographic based attribute information to the original address point layer.
Office of Mapping and Geographic Information staff created a script (program) that intersected the existing address point layer against a number of other spatially based GIS layers, such as election districts, policy areas, planning subareas, etc. It was ran manually as the layer was needed to join to the Building Permits Issued table created by Planning and Zoning's Demographer. The layer was manually joined to the permit table to provide a layer to upload to the Residential Permit Operations Dashboard in Loudoun County's GeoHUB.

The update process will become automated so that the Planning and Zoning demographer will provide the new monthly report table to Mapping Staff and it will be combined with the address point geography layer to automatically crate a new View in the SDE database. This View will update a web service layer, which will update the Loudoun County GeoHUB.
