Loudoun County distributes spatial data in ArcGIS coverage or shapefile format for the cost of reproduction. Countywide spatial datasets may be purchased for $21 per CD or $22 per DVD for up to 650 MB or 4.5 GB of data, respectively. There is a $10 surcharge to purchase countywide topography, and a $3 charge if the item is to be mailed. If the customer wants the data in DXF format and/or would like OMAGI to custom select specific geographic areas of the County, there is an additional $7 per 15 minute increment labor charge. Select aerial imagery is also available.
Size limit: 4.5 GB. Visit our website at: http://www.loudoun.gov/omagi, click on "Loudoun County Mapping Documents & Order Forms." The "Forms" directory will lead you to custom & standard (countywide) data order forms. Hardcopy maps may also be available; please contact the Mapping Office Public Information Counter for more information regarding all data requests.

This data layer was created to provide the locations of historic communities, rural historic communities, and rural historic villages throughout Loudoun County. CPAM-2024-0004 Rural Historic Village Classification, approved in February 2025, added a number of new historic communities to the County's GIS database.

Historic Communities and Institutions data created in ArcGIS by hand placing point locations for communities, churches, schools, etc at approximate locations from multiple sources: 1) 2001 Historic African American communites map created by Loudoun County, VA OMAGI 2) African American Communities of Loudoun County dateset by Friends of Thomas Balch Library, lcated at http://balchfriends.org/bhmap.htm 3) Loudoun County African-American Historic Architectural Resources Survey prepared in 2004
With the adoption of CPAM-2024-0004 Rural Historic Village Classification, the current African American Communities and Sites GIS layer was "dissolved" into two new Historic layers: Historic Sites and Historic Communities. Some of the African American Communities found in the previous African American Communities and Sites layer would be duplicated in the new Historic Sites layer and that would have resulted in two "duplicate" Historic Sites layer in the County's GIS Database. This Historic Communities layer identifies those previous African American communities, along with those newly identified historic communities and historic rural villages adopted by the Board of Supervisors as a result of CPAM-2024-0004.
