Loudoun County distributes spatial data in ArcGIS database or shapefile & DXF format for the cost of reproduction. Countywide spatial datasets may be purchased for $22 per DVD for up to 4.5 GB of data. There is a $100 surcharge to purchase countywide topography, and a $3 charge if the item is to be mailed. If the customer wants the data in DXF format and/or would like OMAGI to custom select specific geographic areas of the County, there is an additional $7 per 15 minute increment labor charge. Select aerial imagery is also available.

<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>This layer represents the Virginia House districts that are within Loudoun County. Virginia House districts represent the area that each elected member of the Virginia House represents. The House districts are revised and adopted by the Commonwealth of Virginia each decade. The Commonwealth of Virginia redraws its House districts based of the results of the most recent decennial census, in this case the 2010 Census. This House district plan, referred to as HB 5005, was signed by the Governor of Virginia on April 29, 2011 & approved by the U.S. Department of Justice on June 17, 2011. </SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
This data was produced in compliance with the constitution of the Commonwealth of Virginia, which mandates the Commonwealth to redraw its House election districts based of the results of the most recent decennial census, in this case 2010. Redrawing the boundaries ensures equal representation of the population. Each House election district is required to have a similar population count. There are 100 House districts in the Commonwealth of Virginia and each House district is within +/- 1% of the equalized decennial census population, which is calculated using the Commonwealth of Virginia's decennial Census population divided by the number of districts.

Retention of attribute accuracy throughout the personal geodatabase or shapefile to ArcSDE geodatabase feature class coversion process was ensured by a manual or automatic QA/QC programmatic check. To meet satisfactory QA/QC requirements the input coverage and output feature class must have, on a record by record basis, identical attribution when comparing all concatenated fields to all the user-defined attribution.
Retention of coordinate accuracy throughout the personal geodatabase or shapefile to ArcSDE geodatabase feature class conversion process was ensured by a manual or automatic QA/QC programmatic check. To meet satisfactory QA/QC requirements the input coverage and output feature class must have the same record total, and on a record by record basis, area, perimeter, and length differential of less than +/- 0.5%.
Census block shapefiles were downloaded from the U.S. Census Bureau. Overlaid the Census Bureau block shapefile with Loudoun County Government's detailed GIS layers to determine the actual location of the physical features, natural features, and governmental units such as town boundaries that the census blocks are designated to follow. Digitized block liines using Loudoun County Government's detailed GIS layers. Created the House district GIS layer by joining the Virginia Division of Legislative Affair's House district block assignment file to Loudoun's spatially enhanced census block layer and then spatially dissolving the census block layer.
