Abstract:

The Loudness Day Night (LDN) layer shows the Ldn 60, Ldn 65 (decibel) & Ldn 60 1 Mile Buffer noise contours for Washington-Dulles International Airport and the Leesburg Municipal Airport (Godfrey Field). These contours were originally established in the early 1990's & updated on January 17, 2023 by the Loudoun County Board or Supervisors for the Washington-Dulles International Airport only. This is also the boundary of the Airport Noise Impact Overlay District in the County's Zoning Ordinance.

Purpose:

The LDN noise contours constitute an overlay district in the County's 1993 Zoning Ordinance. Residential uses are prohibited within the Ldn 65.

Supplemental Information:

Data are stored in the corporate ArcSDE Geodatabase as a feature class. The coordinate system is Virginia State Plane (North), Zone 4501, datum NAD83 HARN.

Maintenance and Update Frequency:

An update would occur only if the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) adopts a new noise study in the future for Dulles Airport.
