Abstract:

This map contains the 1926 rural delivery routes of Loudoun County, VA. It was mapped in 1926 by the Post Office Department. A scanned, digital copy was obtained by Loudoun County, VA Office of Mapping & Geographic Information & geo-referenced to correct spatial location using 1957 imagery.

Purpose:

This map should be used in historical research only, as it is a scanned copy of the original map.

Supplemental Information:

The original map is stored in the Library of Virginia map collection.

Data are stored in the corporate ArcSDE Geodatabase as a raster feature class. SDE geotabase imagery is available in the County's GIS, whereas copies of source files are provided for public distribution.

The coordinate system is Virginia State Plane (North), Zone 4501, datum NAD83 HARN.
