Abstract:

This 1853 map is considered to be the first detailed map of Loudoun County. It was created from actual surveys by Yardley Taylor & is dated 1853. A scanned, digital copy was obtained by Loudoun County, VA Office of Mapping & Geographic Information.

Purpose:

This map should be used in historical research only.

Supplemental Information:

THe original map is owned by the Loudoun Heritage Museum.

Data are stored in the corporate ArcSDE Geodatabase as a raster feature class. SDE geotabase imagery is available in the County's GIS, whereas copies of source files are provided for public distribution.

The coordinate system is Virginia State Plane (North), Zone 4501, datum NAD83 HARN.
